![]() ![]() God, that ending in general was just stupid. We have Warner, Adam, basically all the soldiers, Kenji, Winston. And why do they have gifts? And how come some of them do and others don’t? they didn’t answer ANY of the questions that would have made this story so much more interesting.Īnd then there was the whole situation where every single guy we met was low-key obsessed with Juliette, and that got annoying. Yeah, we know that there’s others with gifts, and I get that having a lethal touch is hers, but what’s with this whole tearing through concrete thing? Cause that was just weird. They never explained how Juliette can do what she can do. ![]() I liked the part where Juliette barged into the slaughter house to get Adam out. Not only did I not like the characters, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the plot. I feel like we got to know him more than Juliette, and he’s only in it for the very end. He was straight-forward and funny. I feel like he had more of a personality than Juliette. I’m not sure what, but I know there’s something. It was more interesting than Juliette’s or Adams.Ĭlearly there’s something going on with his mother, as whenever it was mentioned the dude freaked out. ![]() I also get that Warner thinks Juliette is somehow the same as him because she’s alone and he’s alone. I get that him and Adam are sort of parallels, as Warner wants her to stay with him against her will if needed, and Adam is totally open to her leaving and doing whatever she wants. To be honest, I feel like their relationship is more of a hey-you’re-hot-and-it’s-totally-sexy-I-can-touch-you-when-no-one-else-can-so-let’s-make-out kind of thing. They fall in love without ever communicating with each other. It gets a little bit better at the end, but not really. In my opinion, that’s not really a good basis for a relationship.Īnd even in the book, they don’t really talk. I get that they “knew” each other when they were younger, but by “knew” I mean he stared at her and she watched his dad beat him up. It’s not that I didn’t like Adam, I did, but I didn’t like his and Juliette’s relationship. You have to be a very, very special idiot to accomplish that. Seriously, if you touch this girl you die, and she can’t manage to get her way out of a compound with soldiers instructed not to shoot her? And Warner literally tells her to touch him, and she says no. Are you stupid? That could be your chance to get out, while he’s on the floor writhing in pain, but nooooo. And like, yeah, I see why that could be kind of depressing, but can you stop? And then there’s Warner (who I actually did kind of like) but who in the story is the bad guy. And throughout the book she’s just annoying. She complains about not being able to touch people all the fucking time. The main character, Juliette, particularly annoyed me. Especially if you don’t like the plot and the characters. What I didn’t like?Īnd really, you can’t like a book if you don’t like the plot or characters. That’s why there’s cross outs and alL that stuff. Juliette has this journal for the majority of the book, and I think the book is her novel. The writing is beautiful and it flows and she had this really cool thing she does where she crosses words out but you can still read them so I mean that’s pretty unique. “ I don’t remember what it means to breathe. Honestly, I feel like Tahereh Mafi would make a better poet than a writer. Then there’s the writing, which is amazingly poetic. This cover was amazing.Like, probably the best cover I’ve ever ever seen. I know the whole “you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover thing” but come on. I didn’t realize that the first time I looked at the cover, and I was really proud of myself when I noticed. After reading about the white bird Juliette and Adam both dreamed of, I looked at the cover a little closer, and in her iris you can see a bird. (This would be the time to read if you’ve read this book and you wanna.) I’m gonna start off with the things I did like, cause the book didn’t totally suck, and then I’ll get into the things I wasn’t too thrilled about. She’s in this insane asylum until she gets picked up from the military to go help them torture people. If you haven’t read it, basically it’s about this teenage girl whose touch is lethal. ![]() There are two things about this book I adored:īefore I started reading it I went on goodreads to see what people had to say, and most of them hated it. ![]()
